Footnotes is a recurring series on the GLA blog
where I pick a subject and provide several interesting articles on said topic. The
conference season is rapidly approaching so this week I’m serving up five articles

Got back recently from the South
Carolina Writers' Workshop, a big ol' conference down in Myrtle Beach. One
of the first things I did when I got there was run on the beach. So. Awesome.
Being from Ohio, I never take beach time for granted.
The conference went well, and lived up to its claim to fame by

Writers Conference (at Austin Peay State University) in Tennessee. Now in its
seventh year, I enjoy the CWC because it's a great example of a conference that just
grows a little bit each year and continues to do well. (I taught there before in 2007).

1540 readersAs you may know, I attend a lot of writers' conferences and
like to promote the events I will be at. Today I am doing something special, and promoting
one I will not be at. It's Writers at the
Beach: Pure Seaglass, a writers' conference in Delaware. The reason: Proceeds
of this event all go to charity.

1251 readersBecause of my illness I made only one public appearance as a writer in 2009. I’m trying to make up for that in 2010. Last weekend I attended my first ever romance writers’ event, a one-day conference organised by Romance Writers of Australia, where I was a guest speaker.
Although I was thrilled to be
